Dr. Phil (not the TV personality) joins the lab!

The Canadian invasion continues with our newest addition to the Roach Lab. Phil Lauman joins us from Hamilton, Ontario 🍁. He completed his undergraduate degree at McMaster University with honors in Integrated Science in 2015. Staying true to his moose capital roots he then went on to a PhD in Microbiology and Biotechnology at the University of Alberta which he completed in 2024.

Ever the phage lover, Phil has moved on from his beloved Burkholderia to study Pseudomonas phages in the Roach Lab. He's pursuing an interest in the interaction between phages and the immune system and he's in the right place to do it!

In his free time Phil enjoys camping 🏕, hiking 🚶‍♂️, kayaking 🛶, paddle boarding, running, gym (ewww), board games, chess ♟, and being addicted to coffee ☕.
