We're excited to welcome four new members to the Roach Lab team.

Left to Right: Alex, Ethan, Dareana, Runa. (Please don't sue us Marvel/Disney.)

Joining as a second-year Masters Student is Dareana Cabada-Gonzalez. She joins us after a year in the CIRM program and will be studying the immunogenicity of phages as she continues her cell culture journey. When she's not in the lab Dareana enjoys golfing ⛳, biking 🚲, and working out 💪.

Next up, an old face but a new title, we have Runa Casas. Runa has been with the lab for a year as an undergraduate researcher but is now spearheading a new project studying the infection kinetics of phage cocktails. In her free time Runa enjoys nail art 💅, yoga 🧘‍♀️, and hanging out with friends 😺.

Brand new to the state and a Nu-win for the lab is Ethan Nguyen. Ethan used to monkey 🐒 around in Oregon but he's joined our group to study biofilms and phage engineering. Outside of the lab Ethan enjoys soccer ⚽, snowboarding 🏂, and video games 🎮.

Finally, we'd also like to welcome SD local Alex Poonoosamy. Alex brings with him a background in biotech. He will be study PK/PD of phage resistant variants and isolating novel phages against Salmonella. His favorite past times include working out 🏋️‍♂️, going to live performances 🎶, and watching films 🎬.
